About Us

Ask anyone who has seen Hamilton at TPAC and they'll tell you the same thing: the room itself becomes part of the show. Situated at 505 Deaderick Street in the civic core of Nashville, the Tennessee Performing Arts Center has earned a 4.7-star rating across more than 3,400 reviews by delivering exactly what audiences came for, night after night, season after season.

The complex houses multiple performance halls, each engineered so that no seat feels like a bad one. Reviewers consistently note this, whether they caught a show from the orchestra level, the balcony, or the side sections. That consistency is rare in a venue of this scale, and it's one reason families return year after year, bringing grandparents one visit and college friends the next.

Beyond touring Broadway productions, TPAC is home to the Nashville Ballet, the Nashville Opera, and Tennessee Repertory Theatre. The Nutcracker sells out every December. The spring Broadway series draws road-show casts that rival what you'd see in New York. This is where Nashville's cultural life takes the stage.

What We Offer

TPAC programs across four distinct disciplines, so there is almost always something on the calendar worth marking. The Broadway at TPAC series brings full-scale touring productions of the biggest shows running, from long-running musicals to new Tony Award winners making their Nashville debut. Tickets range from affordable balcony seats to premium orchestra placements, and the sightlines justify every price point.

Resident companies round out the year with their own seasons. The Nashville Ballet performs classical and contemporary works, including its beloved annual Nutcracker each holiday season. Nashville Opera stages productions that attract nationally recognized vocalists. Tennessee Repertory Theatre contributes dramatic and comedic plays that give local acting talent a flagship stage.

TPAC also hosts special engagements, one-night concerts, family programming, and educational outreach events that bring students into the building for their first live performance experience. For private events and corporate gatherings, the facility's spaces offer a backdrop that no hotel ballroom can match.

"The shows and staff at TPAC are always excellent! I haven’t had a bad seat - from the orchestra, balcony, and sides, it’s fun to experience a show anywhere!! I’ve taken different family members and we always have a great time. The bathrooms during intermission are super quick and efficient! Plenty of time to grab a drink and or snack too! I recommend going if you have the chance."

"Went to see a show first week in June. Very well organized with a helpful staff. The reviews stated the acoustics were good. I have to disagree.. we were seated in the Balcony area. The sound was heard from below with the echo from the performers . I was kinda disappointed that there were no speakers in the balcony area."

"We love TPAC! We came for the matinee performance of Some Like It Hot, and it was fantastic. The show was incredible—the talent was amazing and perhaps the best performance I’ve ever seen. The dancing, singing, and overall entertainment were off the charts! The staff is always so friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience even better. It’s truly one of our favorite places to enjoy a show in Nashville."

Frequently Asked Questions

Where exactly is TPAC located and how do I get there?

TPAC is at 505 Deaderick Street in downtown Nashville, TN 37243, directly across from Legislative Plaza. Multiple parking garages are within a two-block walk, and the venue is accessible via Nashville's WeGo bus network. Rideshare drop-off is available at the main entrance on Deaderick.

What productions does TPAC typically present in a season?

Each season includes a Broadway at TPAC touring series featuring major national productions, plus independent seasons from the Nashville Ballet, Nashville Opera, and Tennessee Repertory Theatre. Special engagements and one-night events fill the calendar between those anchor productions.

Are there good seats in the balcony, or should I stick to the orchestra?

Audience reviews consistently praise the view from every section. The balcony offers a full-stage perspective that many theatergoers actually prefer for large-scale musicals. Side seats provide an angled view that can feel more intimate. The acoustics are strong throughout the house.

Does TPAC offer tickets for students or children?

Yes. TPAC runs educational outreach programming that brings student groups to matinee performances at reduced rates. Many productions also have family-friendly pricing tiers. Check the tpac.org website for current student rush policies and group sales for school groups.

When does the Nashville Ballet perform the Nutcracker?

The Nashville Ballet's Nutcracker runs every December at TPAC and is one of the most attended holiday events in the city. Dates vary by year, so visit tpac.org in the fall to purchase tickets early, as multiple performances typically sell out well in advance.

Can TPAC's spaces be rented for private or corporate events?

Yes. TPAC offers event rental options for corporate gatherings, receptions, and special occasions. The downtown location and distinctive architectural setting make it a memorable alternative to conventional event venues. Contact TPAC directly through tpac.org to discuss availability and pricing.

What is the best way to buy tickets and avoid fees?

Tickets are sold through tpac.org, which is the official source for all productions presented by TPAC and its resident companies. Purchasing directly through the website or the TPAC box office typically offers the most transparent pricing and the widest seat selection.
